part: is a general term appropriate when indefiniteness is required: they ran only ~ of the way.


portion: implies an assigned or allotted part: cut the pie into six ~.


piece: stresses separateness and applies to a separate and detached part of a whole: a puzzle with 500 ~.


member: sug. one of the functional units composing a body: an arm is a bodily ~.


division: applies to a large or diversified part made as if by cutting: the manufacturing ~ of the company.


section: is like division, but applies to a relative small and uniform part: the entertainment ~ of the newspaper.


segment: applies to a part separated or marked out by or as if by natural lines of cleavage: the retired ~ of the population.  (cleavage: 分裂=split)


fragment: applies to a part produced by or as if by breaking off, or shattering, OR left after the rest has been used, eaten, worn away, or lost: only a ~ of the play remained.


part: 通用, 需要不确定时用, portion: 分配的部分, piece一件: 分离的一部分, member: 组成身体的一部分，division: 体量大、组成多样的一部分，像被切割得到,  section: 同样，但较小较单一, segment: 由自然线条分开(cleavage)的部分, fragment: 打碎折断或残留部分(其余已耗损used,eaten,worn off,lost)。

           2）部分的意思是属于整体且小于整体的事物mean something less than the whole to which it belongs.
